Antisemitism on the Rise: What’s Happening, How It’s Being Weaponized, and What Can Be Done
Antisemitism has been alarmingly on the rise for years. Recent antisemitic attacks include arson at the residence of Governor Josh Shapiro, the murders of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim just blocks from Sixth & I, and a dozen people—including a Holocaust survivor—burned in Boulder, Colorado, while peacefully demonstrating for the release of hostages held by Hamas. Many in the Jewish community feel vulnerable and increasingly afraid.
Sixth & I’s Senior Rabbi, Aaron Potek, will speak with Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, and Yolanda Savage-Narva, Vice President of Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Communities of Belonging for the Union for Reform Judaism, about the current state of antisemitism in the U.S., how the Jewish community’s legitimate concerns are also being exploited to undermine core democratic rights and academic institutions under the guise of combatting antisemitism—which puts Jews and other marginalized groups at even greater risk—and what concerned individuals and communities can do to confront antisemitism and uphold democracy.
