5 Reasons to Attend a Washington Wizards Basketball Game

Capital One Arena plays host to one of the National Basketball Association’s most exciting teams.

The Washington Wizards are one of the hottest tickets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Here are our favorite reasons to check out Wizards hoops at Capital One Arena this season. Make sure to pick up your Wizards gear at the Arena's team store before the game. You can also purchase discounted tickets (up to 20% off) on select home games throughout the season.

01

New look roster

Washington Wizards

The Wizards' 2023-24 roster is full of fresh faces to go along with some recent staples. Fan-favorites like Kyle Kuzma, Deni Avdija, Corey Kispert and Daniel Gafford are back donning the navy and red, but the new guys are bringing tons of energy and excitement. On draft night, the Wizards acquired 19-year-old French rookie Bilal Coulibaly. At 6-foot-8, Coulibaly adds tantalizing length to the wings. He’s already shown the ability to defend at the highest level and the offense is coming along, too. Jordan Poole is another exciting addition, who came to DC via trade from the Golden State Warriors and has a wealth of experience for his age. He won the NBA Finals with Steph Curry and Co. in 2022 and is  one of the lead offensive weapons on this Wizards team. Whether it’s deep-shooting or flashy handles, Poole never fails to dazzle the fans.

02

Block parties at District E

Washington Wizards

Before every home game, Wizards fans can come by for a block party at District E – the event space connected to Capital One Arena. Fans can hang out, order a drink, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy giveaways, live music and much more. There’s no better way to get your mind right before heading into the arena for four quarters of NBA hoops.

03

Promotional giveaways

At select home games throughout the entire season, the first 10,000 fans to enter Capital One Arena will earn some awesome souvenirs. This season, fans can take advantage of “Wizards Wednesdays,” a nine-night series presented by Capital One. Featured on “Wizards Wednesdays” will be hats designed by current and former Wizards players, bobble heads and other special souvenirs. Make sure to show up to the game early so you don’t miss out on these free take-home items.

04

Dining options

Washington Wizards

Don’t worry about eating before you show up to a Wizards game. Capital One Arena has plenty of amazing dining options available to you before tip-off and during the action. Whether you want Chiko (a Chinese-Korean fusion), Honeymoon Chicken (elevated fried chicken dishes), Stuggy’s Sandwich Shop (an iconic Baltimore staple) or any variety of traditional stadium food, you can get it all and some. You won’t leave hungry. Plus, if you’re looking for an even more luxurious dining option, you can purchase one of the new Hennessy Courtside Lofts or buy a membership to the members-only José Andrés Signature Lounge.

05

The Legend: G-Wiz

Washington Wizards

While you’re at the game, check out one of the NBA’s top mascots, G-Wiz! You will see him running around the stands of Capital One Arena high-fiving fans, taking pictures, dressing up in costumes and shooting t-shirts. If you see him, be sure to look at his shoes, as he always seems to have on a new fresh pair of kicks. You can also stay up to date with him on social media via @wizardsgwiz.
