Plan your next getaway to Coastal Virginia for a memorable vacation the whole family will love!

Day 1 - Williamsburg

Morning

Experience our nation's largest living history museum by visiting the 18th-century city of Colonial Williamsburg. You'll discover why this was the capital of Virginia and the largest, most prosperous American colony. Men and women from all walks of life strolled these streets, and you'll follow in their footsteps.

Explore dozens of original buildings, homes, and shops reconstructed on 301 acres – most on their original foundations. Rare animal breeds, historic trades, and lovingly restored gardens add layers of authenticity. You’ll feel as if you've traveled back in time.

Afternoon

Explore, Jamestown Settlement, where you’ll discover the people and events of America’s first permanent English colony through immersive galleries and an outdoor living-history experience. Located near the site of the original colony, costumed historical interpreters tell the stories and demonstrate daily life in a re-created 1610-14 fort and in a Paspahegh Indian village. Step aboard replicas of the three ships that sailed from England in 1607.

Evening

With over 67,000 square feet of entertainment space, Williamsburg’s Great Wolf Lodge is a must for family vacations. Their gigantic indoor water park includes a towering aquatic fort outfitted with all sorts of splash features, water slides for all ages and thrill levels, a lazy river, a surf simulator, and more. And if that’s not enough, you’ll discover a wide array of activities to keep the kids entertained, like a miniature bowling alley, laser tag, arcade, and outdoor adventure ropes course.

Day 2 - Norfolk

Morning

Visit Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin. Nauticus is an interactive science and technology center where you can explore and learn about the maritime environment, industry and military. While there, experience what it feels like to be in the shoes of a United States Navy Sailor aboard the Battleship Wisconsin, one of the last and largest battleships built by the U.S. Navy.

Afternoon

Head over to the Virginia Zoo and discover wildlife! Zoo residents from around the world include more than 700 animals and several exotic species. Spot lions, tigers, and many more animals on board the train that runs throughout the Zoo with stops along the way. Wind your way through the bamboo maze or watch an exciting educational presentation to learn fun facts about the animals and the Zoo’s conservation efforts.

Stop for a waffle ice cream cone at Doumar's. Abe Doumar invented the waffle cone at the 1904 World’s Fair by taking a waffle and rolling it into a cone, to which he added ice cream. Doumar’s still bake cones on the original four-iron waffle cone machine.

Evening

End the night aboard the Spirit of Norfolk where the whole family can enjoy a nautical setting with dancing, great food and live entertainment. After, stroll to your nearby downtown hotel.

Day 3 - Virginia Beach

Morning

Start your morning at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center where you’ll take an aquatic journey to experience over 300 species displayed in state-of-the-art habitats. Enjoy hands-on exhibits, touch pools and walk along a marshland nature path. If you like adrenaline, be sure to allow time for climbing and zip-lining at The Adventure Park.

Afternoon

Your next stop will be the Military Aviation Museum, home to one of the world's largest private collections of World War I and War II era military aircraft. Learn about the heroes that shaped this country. Tour two historic buildings brought over from Europe: a 1934 German Hangar and a 1942 British RAF Operations Watch Office Tower.

Evening

Dinner tonight will feature local seafood while sitting on an oceanfront patio. After dinner, learn about the ghosts of shipwrecks and murder victims with a Ghost Walking Tour along the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Spend a night at the Ramada Plaza or one of the many family-friendly oceanfront hotels.
